Bills, Bills, Bills!

Updated: Jul 30, 2022

Is it just me, or do all of the bills seem to arrive in the mail on the same day!? The mail, you ask? Yep, I still pay my bills with checks and mail them in. I use real stamps and everything! I know this seems foreign to some people, but I've always enjoyed the process of writing the bill, balancing the checkbook and sending the check to the vendor. I don't enjoy giving them my money, but the rest of the process can be enjoyable.

I have realized that many people struggle with finances! I have helped friends and family with some simple tips to help them pay off debts and get back on track. I am not a financial expert, but I have been doing the adulting thing for many years now and have learned alot about how to maintain a budget. Below are some quick tips. I hope to write a more detailed blog and include some optional excel sheets you could use as well.

  1. Write down all of the bills you pay monthly as of today.

  2. Write down at the top how much you make each month and then subtract all of the bills. Is there any money left?

  3. What about investments, savings, bonds, collateral (mortgage, 401K, etc.).

  4. If you have these, write those down too.

  5. When you have the above, you should see everything you have on one big piece of paper.

  6. From here, you can start to think about and decide if there are things you can get rid of if you need to save more money. You can also do a check on if you have retirement setup, or perhaps 529's for the kids, etc.

I know this sounds overwhelming, but once you have it all written down and start to make a plan, it gets so much easier and less overwhelming!

Some people have so much debt that is really unnecessary if they just take some time to plan. Once you start to pay everything off, the freedom you will feel is amazing!

I love helping people realize their full potential financially! I would love to help you as well and share many more tips and ideas.

Shoot me an email if you want to learn more and work on your finances!

Happy Organizing! Janel
