So, as you know I am a pretty thrifty person! If you didn't know, I LOVE wreaths! I love making my own wreaths too!
I ran across a Facebook page called "Olivia's Romantic DIY." She specializes in DIY decorations using things from the Dollar Store or Dollar Tree. I love Dollar stores for decorations, party supplies, etc. So last Fall when it started to get colder, I decided I wanted to make some more wreaths for Christmas and other occasions. I hung them in my kids rooms (if they wanted) and around the house.
Yesterday, I decided that I wanted a new Spring wreath for the fireplace. I typically hang a gold four-leaf clover there which was a wedding gift and has much meaning behind it, but this year I just was craving some color. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I headed to the Dollar Store.
Here's a picture of what I bought. A small foam circle, burlap ribbon, a piece of green garland, and some pink and yellow flowers. 5 items, so $5 before tax!
I decided to wrap the foam circle with the burlap ribbon. I added a drop of hot clue to the start and then just tightly wrapped around and added another drop of glue at the end to hold it on.
Next, I decided how much garland to add and glued it on at the top.
Now it's time to add flowers. The burlap has enough holes in the material that I just cut them about an inch long and poked them through the burlap into the foam circle wherever I wanted them. The small yellow ones didn't have enough of a stem so I just hot-glued them on where I wanted them. I then had some leftover white flowers from a previous wreath and added those. So, I guess you could call it the $6 wreath if you buy 3 different types of flowers!
I love how it turned out. So small and simple and just adds a bit of "Spring" to the house as we transition out of winter!
Happy Crafting,
Janel
