Masks, pj's and dolls, OH MY!

Updated: Feb 7, 2021

One of my favorite places in the home is sitting at my sewing machine. I can look out the window and just spend time creating.

With 4 kids in the home, there isn't a lot of free space. When our youngest was ready to move from the crib to a toddler bed, we moved her into another room and the "baby's room" became an oasis for me. We turned it into an official office with a guest bed and my sewing machine. I would feel peace when I was in this room. That didn't last long though... we also kept our home computer in there and that's how the boys play Minecraft!

So now, with the husband working from home in the office, I only sew on the weekends when we allow the kids to play video games. I do love listening to them create their worlds and yell things like "look at this cave I mined," and so it's a new type of oasis for me. It's where I can spend time with the kids, but we both can do what we want to do.

Today I worked on some more face masks, patching a hole in some pajama pants and doing some minor surgery on my daughter's baby doll to reattach the limbs. I didn't exactly sew what I wanted to sew, but what I did was important to the kids and that shows them love, which is more important that all of the projects I want to do! In my opinion, that is JOY!

Below are some pictures of face masks I've made and the pajamas I made for my daughter. The kids ask for new pj pants every Christmas and I am SO glad to do it! I know some day they won't be caught dead wearing something I made them!!

Happy Crafting! Janel
