Here we go again! A yummy, easy recipe for one of my favorites! BISCUITS! Who doesn't love a flaky, buttery biscuit that you can smother with butter, jelly, honey, apple butter, peanut butter, etc. etc. etc.!!! But, a true biscuit is not very healthy for you. It's full of shortening or butter and lots of flour. Well, once again I've "healthed-up" a recipe for quick 20-minute biscuits.
These really are so very easy! Let's get baking.
Ingredients
2 1/4 cups flour (I use 1 cup whole wheat and then 1 1/4 cup all purpose)
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp sugar
1/3 cup butter or shortening (I always use just butter)
1 cup milk (you can use any type, even almond milk)
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 425F.
- Grease baking sheet.
- Add flour, baking powder, salt and sugar to a mixing bowl and stir.
- Cut in butter until the mix resembles course crumbs.
- Add the milk and mix.
- Put on a floured surface and knead gently a few times.
- Then roll out into a rectangle.
- Fold in half and cut into desired sizes.
This is so much easier than cutting round biscuits, re-rolling the dough and cutting again. They still taste delicious!
- Put on a pan and bake for 18-20 minutes.
That's it! Enjoy! Because you folded in half, they are easily pulled apart. Smother with plain butter, or peanut butter, or jelly, or honey, or apple butter, or whatever you love on a biscuit!
Enjoy! Happy baking!
